Joey and I met through a friend who asked me to go on vacation with her family to Lake Powell. Surprisingly my parents said yes, I could go with her to this lake for a whole week. I was so excited to go but didn’t know what to expect. While driving to the lake my friend informed me there were going to be some boys there, and she thought I might like them. I was only 15 at the time so this was a really big deal!
That night we were waiting on the dock for them to pick us up. When they pulled up, he was driving the boat and I thought he was very cute. The rest of the week we spent hanging out. He was quite the show off, doing tricks on his skis and such, but he also seemed really responsible and very funny. When we left I thought to myself “ that was a really cool kid and I will probably never get to see him again.” After all he lived about 40 minutes from my house (which is an eternity for a teenager.) I couldn't stop thinking and talking about Joey. After about a month my friend finally convinced me to call him. From then on we started to spend a lot of time together. I found out later, from the beginning he also liked me but he thought I had a crush on his friend who was on the trip with us.
We became really good friends and dated all through high school. 3 years and 1 month after we met we were married in Bullfrog, Lake Powell on a very hot July morning. We have known each other now for 13 years and will be celebrating out 10th anniversary this summer.
In the summer of 2008 we were able to celebrate our anniversary by taking our family to the Salt Lake City Temple. What a wonderful day!
